Dr. McFadden was an associate in two private practices from 1990 to 1993. In 1993 he joined the private practice side of a university based practice in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at The University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center. From 1993 to 2002 he was Clinical Director of the private practice clinic and Founder and Director the Dental Implant Center. In 2003, he opened the McFadden Dental Implant Center in Dallas, Texas.
In 2011, with total office collections at $1.4 million, Dr. McFadden authored the book, “The Million Dollar Prosthodontist”, the first and only book of its kind. Still dissatisfied with the efficiency and profitability of his practice, he spent the next five years relentlessly pursuing improvement. What he learned led to the 2nd Edition of the “The Million Dollar Prosthodontist”. This 2nd Edition is three times the size of the original book. This book gives chapter by chapter insight into how to build a Platinum Level Prosthodontic Practice. In this, he shares his strategies and defines methods to take control of your practice to creating an environment of productivity while focusing on the highest level of patient care. In 2016 the total office collections were $2 million on four days per week with net profit up 14%. It will resonate loudly with private practitioners who desire better control of their business.
When not fixing teeth, managing his practice or writing books, Dr. McFadden can be found on his ranch training and riding his Tennessee Walking Horses, driving a tractor or building a cabin. Yes, there is time for it all when your practice operates efficiently! When you understand how to manage your business-life there are unlimited possibilities for your personal life.
Barbara has been working in the dental field for 32 years. In her early years, she worked in a general dental practice, and started with no experience or training in the dental field at all. Since 1992, she has worked exclusively in prosthodontic practices (2). She has worked several years in the back as a dental and surgical assistant, and in the front office as a receptionist and office manager. Having spent years in these different positions in both general and specialty practices brings extra layers of experience and knowledge in all aspects of the running of a prosthodontic practice, as well as in dealing with general practices (regarding the referral and patient management processes). In 2002, she & Dr. Alan Paradis (now retired) opened a small, private prosthodontic practice in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Within a few years, they’d built a successful practice that collected $1 million per year, working a 4day week. Barbara managed virtually everything in the practice from day 1 except the dentistry itself: Marketing, and advertising, payroll, all administrative duties, retirement accounts, hiring and training of employees, lab cases, accounting, taxes, etc. She is detail oriented, and over the years, she developed systems for managing and tracking these various tasks that made things easy to manage and keep on track. She is a great resource for administrative staff in so many ways. She understands the importance of building relationships with patients as well as having systems in place to help manage and control the flow of the office and monies.
